When we first received this assignment, I had no clue as to
what topic I wanted to explore. To help me choose a topic, I started to list
some of my interests. These interests included criminology, babies/children,
music, volleyball, and cooking/baking. Because all of these are interests of
mine, it was hard for me to narrow down my options to just one topic. I then
began to list ways in which these topics can relate to academics. I found that
some of the topics that I had were easier to come up with relations than
others, so that eliminated several of my topic choices. To further narrow my
choices, I started to list keywords for each topic. By doing this, I was able
to find the topic that I wanted to research: criminology. Criminology is
something that I find extremely interesting and compelling. Although this topic
is not something that I studied or am studying, I am excited to explore and
discover the world of criminology.
